History Of Culture Vultures

Culture Vultures was founded in September 2000 by Connie Di Falco Friedman, Anna L. De Biagi, Ruth Rosenberg and Valerie Bloomfield Ambrose. As artists, educators and art lovers they recognized a need for cultural programming in Pembroke Pines and South Broward County. They used the broadest notion of culture in order to draw together programs as widely diverse as they were entertaining and enlightening.

The Southwest Regional Library offered a home to the multi-cultural forms of entertainment and so began Sunday Happenings: monthly programs in the library's auditorium from 2 - 4 p.m. Audiences of all ages attend free of charge and thanks to the Friends of the Library refreshments are provided. Past programs included dance, music, the cultures of Brazil, Haiti, India and Thailand, culinary arts, scientists, artists, sculptors and much more.

As CVs grew they were joined by Kathy Romero, Leda Burns, Bernice LuQui, Marni Most, Chris Doherty and Rita Lewison Singer. Together the Board works tirelessly to bring entertaining cultural programs to our growing community.
